Organic Pears

At Windmill Orchards, we grow a small but exceptional selection of organic pears, valued for their sweetness, aroma, and smooth texture. Our orchards produce three distinctive varieties: Concorde, Conference, and Doyenné du Comice. Conference pears are well known for their reliable crops and delicate sweetness, Concorde pears offer a refined flavour with crisp, juicy flesh, and Comice pears are often celebrated as one of the finest dessert pears, prized for their rich, buttery taste. Grown organically in our orchards, these pears ripen naturally on the tree, developing the full flavour that makes fresh orchard pears so special.

Concorde

Concorde is a modern English dessert pear known for its sweet flavour and juicy texture. Developed in the UK in the 1970s, it combines the reliable growing qualities of Conference with some of the refined flavour of Doyenné du Comice. Concorde has become a modest commercial variety in England and parts of western Europe and is also popular with gardeners because it is relatively easy to grow.
